In principle, we include only things in our tests and test objectives that
have been demonstrated to be important from our Job Task Analysis.

I posted a few issues to get a founded opinion on some things that may be
omissions from the JTA. The opinion from a limited group of experts is a
dangerous thing to use however, because it depends on whom you ask; and if
there is no consensus, it is probably wiser to not decide by a majority of
"votes", for the same reason.

So I would like to use an additional criterium for the questions on what
tools we expect people to be familiar with: the tool must be the preferred
tool (used or installed by default) in the majority (at least 4 of 7) of
the main Linux distributions:
        Caldera Open Linux
        Debian
        Mandrake
        Red Hat
        Slackware
        SuSE
        Turbolinux

(These 7 are listed as leading by Linux Weekly News; the 6 that we
initially targeted over 2 years ago are still in this list, so I consider
this a stable and strong selection).

So now my questions are, which of these 7 distributions prefer:

(partitioning)
        fdisk
        cfdisk
        sfdisk
        parted
        Partition Magic
        other?

(boot manager)
        lilo
        grub
        other?

(printing)
        Berkeley lpd
        LPRng
        CUPS

And, for the fun of it:
(mailserver)
        sendmail
        postfix
        exim
        smail
        qmail
        other?

I would appreciate if everybody will post authorative information, or
better still someone gives a complete overview.
