If the focus right now is to get 2 exams, just any 2 exams, out for
LPIC-3 that just cover whatever software is popular -- then I'll just
keep my mouth shut. Because if that is the case, we should just do the
Samba and Security exams various people have been talking about since
2005 or so.

But if the focus is to build a base examination for Linux enterprises --
where Linux is not merely a participant as a "department server" -- but
an interoperating base of enterprise services for various network
capabilities and clients, you have got to look at making LPI 301 the
_core_ services -- authentication, directory and naming.

Again, I don't think people realize that nmbd and winbindd provide these
services -- but rather limited, legacy and Windows-only. They are not
related to SMB as a file service, but as a greater part of an enterprise
service strategy for auth/dir/name. It's not that complicated to go to
the next step.

But if we just want 2 exams, any 2 exams, I don't know what to say.
Because I'm obviously the only one thinking differently. And maybe that
means I need to just fill in the ELResource Wiki (damn I wish I would
have done that instead of writing FAQs and other docs before, long
story) so there is a "blueprint" for when you want to rev the entire
LPIC-3 program in 2008+.

The existence of Linux has far more to do with the breakup
of AT&T's monopoly than anything Microsoft has ever done.
