The reason I'm pushing for it in level 1 is that, if LPIC-1 does become that branch point for other cert tracks, basic SQL knowledge is useful for admins as well as developers. So why test it twice. Plus, even the most junior guy at starnix has had to do some SQL tasks....but I'm repeating myself now.
