Given the popularity of MySQL on Linux servers, I could see an argument for basic sysadmin of MySQL. If anything it will add more questions to the exam pool. So I can't argue there. I also agreed with your other comment that it doesn't hurt to add (and numerically tag) a new objective, even if it doesn't make the cut into objectives. In fact, you could keep a section on the LPI around for "objectives not in the [current] exam, but open for consideration as 'foundational' Linux sysadmin" in future developments. But at the same time, if you're going to argue MySQL, you'll hear me start harping on the Automounter. ;) And when people say the Automounter isn't important, every traditional Solaris admin rolls their eyes and then exclaim, "See, most Linux sysadmins don't care about enterprise file access!" -- Bryan J.
