The only downside to this, as other people have mentioned, is that we won't be testing what is being used in the field. The JTA survey will prove or disprove the belief that 'most people are now using yum, apt-get, etc to install packages'. If that's so, we should be testing those systems over and above the core package installers like rpm and dpkg. I agree that it would be easy to go overboard with this approach, though.
