While I appreciate the relatively comprehensive nature of the LPIC exams, there comes a point where the people behind an exam have to say: "OK, people who pass our exams know enough that they can learn how to use other tools". IMO, that would include not only tools like LILO, but package management tools like emerge, pkgtool, or urpmi. (OTOH, LILO is a central part of the boot process.) I'm not suggesting that LPIC include emerge, pkgtool, or urpmi. I am suggesting that the LPIC certs are good enough; an employer should have confidence that LPIC qualified candidates can quickly learn such tools.
