We have implemented an lprng based printing system with about 20 different
physical locations. Some consist of 1 to 2 machines others are much larger.
Total we have about 285 workstations printing (ip only) to a central box.
This box does routing and accounting to a sql database. In about 6 months
we have ran 219034 jobs (673990 pages) (45 Gig of postscript documents) on a
PIII 500 256Mb Ram 13Gb ATA100 drive running redhat 6.2 - LPRng 3.6.12-1.
The routing is decided based on workstation origin and machine login (custom
software). Our plans include developing a full gui management interface for
printing and workstation tracking as well getting a bigger/faster box!!!
