My appologies if you see this more than once but my previous attempts
to post seem to have failed (the first was due to not being
subscribed, :-) but I was on the second attempt)

Hello folks,

I have just set up LPRng, all the neato PPD stuff and whatnot on my
RedHat 7.0 system. Well the truth is "http://hp.sourceforge.net" did
it for me. :-)

I have an HP 4050 printer with the JetDirect card and everything seems
to be working just great, until I start to use too many -Z options on
the lpr command line. It would seem that if I use more than 5 of
them, the spooler gets stuck and there is a "Worker" unspooling that
goes to sleep in a read from the printer. The relevant processes:

16278 ? S 0:00 lpd Waiting
17668 ? S 0:00 \_ lpd (Server) 'lp'
17669 ? S 0:00 \_ lpd (Worker - Remote) 'lp'

Any ideas how to remedy this (without specifying less -Z options :-)?

Thanx,
b.

P.S. Here is a trace of the communication with the LPD server on the
JetDirect card if it helps:

And that's it. The socket sits open and the "lpd (Worker - Remote)
'lp'" process sits in a read() call.
