There's the LPRng lpinfo tool by Alek Komarnitsky. The web page is
http://www.komar.org/pres/lpinfo/ .

The latest version is 2.63 from June 3, 2000. It's quite involved to configure for
your own site. It does a pretty good job of letting users see printer status, and
allowing administrators to manage jobs and queues. One of my projects is to
improve the lpinfo tool so we can use it to manage printing in the computer
laboratories.
