I'll second this. The Xerox Phaser printers are very nice and very fast.
However, you don't want the 2135. It prints fine using any mode but
appsocket, which is the only practical way to get page counts back from
the printer. We had a demo 2135 in our possession for several months and
could not make it work over appsocket at all with lprng.
When we finally gave up on the 2135, our rep was kind enough to let us
demo the 7700 instead. The 7700 works fine with lprng, once we applied a
patch to lprng. I'm not sure if the patch has been rolled into the newer
versions of lprng as we are still running 3.7.4 here.
We have long been an HP printer shop, but HP's color printers are just way
too slow. The 4500DN we have had for a while typically takes several
minutes just to print the first page (it goes through some calibration
cycles, etc before printing). The 7700 gets the first page out in less
than a minute easily. If you've seen the commercials comparing the HP
color printer to the Xerox Phaser 2135, I can tell that they are accurate.
The HP color printers are slow.
