I have another datapoint on this. We also have this happening, but using
LPRng 3.8.1 and ifhp 3.5.0. Our print servers are Digital AlphaStation
800 5/333 (two of these) and one Compaq DS20, all running Compaq Tru64
Unix 5.1a. We have two issues:
- some jobs start to print (actually get a few pages out) then stop
with messages in the status.queuename file like this:

to the network printer but no connection actually happens:

I don't know if these two problems are related--each one happens on a
different server. I have noticed that some stalled jobs in the first case
(above) are PDF files expecting a PS level 3 printer (our printers are
PS level 2).
No answers here, yet. We are working heavily on case two (above) and just
slightly less so on case one.
