We have (sort of) resolved the issue of print jobs stalling using LPRng
under Compaq Tru64 Unix 5.1a at our site. I spent some time talking on
the phone with Patrick Powell about it this morning.

My boss and I think that this is due to something not working correctly in
the Tru64 Unix 5.1a network stack. Here's a rough outline of the events
that brought us to this belief:

  - LPRng 3.8.1 installed in Nov 2001
  - LPRng stopped working late Dec 2001
  - much mucking about, then remembering LDAP tools were installed on
TU64 server about the time that LPRng quit working
  - LDAP tools removed
  - LPRng still didn't work, more mucking about
  - OS re-installed, LPRng starts working, xfs quits working
  - much mucking about with xfs, and see some of the same behavior as with
LPRng failure (e.g. netstat reports open ports, but tcpdump sees no
    traffic)

We now have an open service call with Compaq regarding the xfs issue.

YOU MUST BE A LIST MEMBER IN ORDER TO POST TO THE LPRNG MAILING LIST
The address you post from MUST be your subscription address

If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests
or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body. For the impatient,
to subscribe to a list with name LIST, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
with: | example:
subscribe LIST <mailaddr> | subscribe lprng-digest [EMAIL PROTECTED]
unsubscribe LIST <mailaddr> | unsubscribe lprng [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you have major problems, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word
LPRNGLIST in the SUBJECT line.
