Well, that would be very much a surprise to me as my own system tells me this: $ dpkg -l lprng Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-==============-==============-============================================ ii lprng 3.8.15-1 lpr/lpd printer spooling system and $ lpd -V LPRng-3.8.15, Copyright 1988-2002 Patrick Powell, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I double-checked, but I didn't accidentally install any CUPS components next to lprng either. I did sanitize the hostname in the loglines I sent (there have been people calling me paranoid }:-), but that's the only thing I did change. What is weird about them that they make you think they are from CUPS? The remote Solaris host these loglines came from has the default Sun lpd implementation for Solaris 8.0 installed (I don't know what daemon that actually is). But, since the connections are coming from my system I don't suppose that's where the problem lies. My logs don't show any error messages during printing as far as I can see. I wouldn't even have known about the problem if the admin of the print server hadn't asked me what I was doing (the printing itself is flawless). > By the way, I am available for trouble calls... Due to the large timezone difference and the non-urgent nature of the problem I prefer to use the list before bothering you. (I know... I am one of those old-fashioned nettiquette guys <g>).
