I tried that, but it doesn't have any effect. IIRC the nopoll patch applied to Do_waitend, which for some reason wasn't/isn't being called even though I have waitend enabled. I'm leaving this mystery alone (among others) for now -- I'll stick with pagecount_poll unless something goes horribly wrong.
