See the LPRng HOWTO, in the "Accounting" chapter.

For the reset to 0 every switch off/on, it concerns Laserjets 
4L/5L/6L, small models, which are usually for a single person. 
They have no NVRAM (and probably no SNMP support anyway, but
the counter retrieved through PCL is still bad)

This really sucks anyway.
