Are you sure the printer is listening on port 9100?  The Xerox printers 
we have here (hopefully to be retired soon) are configurable as to which 
port they listen on, if they listen on a raw printer port at all.

On our Phaser 5400's, you can find this in the onboard web server.  It 
may show up in a configuration page, too.
