All of the various options have tradeoffs. This is true whether the
tradeoffs are technical or economic. The ChromeOS/WearOS is one
alternative along the continuum. Another is something like Project
Treble. There may be other solutions that will be announced in the
future, but the problem is finding something that all of the various
companies will actually agreed to. The ecosystem is large, and it's
not just handset manufacturers. It's also their suppliers, and the
cell phone companies, etc., etc.

Please go ahead and start a company if you think it is so easy. I
assure you, it isn't.

Even on the amd64 platform there are problems, especially around power
management. My Dell laptop is *still* not working well, and this is
even after I've asked for, and received help, from engineers working
at Dell.

And in the real world, IOT devices, cell phones, and other things
which need to run on small batteries do *not* run on the amd64
platform.

And all of these problems are completely out of the scope of what the
LSB tries to address. So if we're talking about the LSB, it will
*not* solve these problems.
