KDE and Gnome would be my last choice for latsp. but, having said thqat, are you sure that NS7 is not the only thing hosing your system. I would put the DIE_Netscape file in the server to watch for and kill any netscape runaways. You can add other pesky runaway proggies too. I know lots of the Gnome applets run away. I myself would run ICEWM with a menu trimmed down to what folks have to use, and no more. But I am the BOFH.
