My real world experience is: 500MB Server RAM for 14 clients, KDE2+Netscape+StarOffice The server CPU is Athlon 1 GHz -> cca. 6 GB Server RAM for 160 clients I suggest 2 Servers with 3GB RAM each or 3 servers with 2GB RAM each. you have to find a way how to keep them in sync rsync / NIS / LDAP / ... One of the Servers will have all the Homedirs.
