Andy,

Ahh, the dreaded Cirrus logic chipset.

If you leave it set to 'auto', then LTSP will automatically
try to use the either the cirrus or the cirrus_alpine driver,
depending on the PCI device ids.

Try setting XSERVER = XF86_SVGA

That will cause it to use the XFree86 3.3.6 driver.

You'll also need to install the ltsp_x336_svga package.

The Cirrus logic chipsets have been one of the biggest
headaches for LTSP admins.  They are notoriously difficult
to get setup properly.

There are other things to try, but the best place to
get help on this is through the #ltsp IRC channel
at irc.openprojects.net.
