the problem with using vmware is that it nullifies the need for ltsp. isn't
the idea to use ltsp and not have to purchase license to run the Win9x OS?
using vmware is not a solution when trying to stay legal and not purchase
the client OS.

from my recall, vmware was intended for business use as people such as
ourselves used linux (or vice versa) and needed to be able to run some
windows app because of business. The trade off ofcourse was some
performance, but it worked.

at anyrate, i've noticed alot of response that say 'use vmware' to various
questions. anyone doing so should remember that while this may work, are
you stay legal by doing so, if someone really wanted to audit you, do you
own each copy of the installed WinOS installation, it doesn't matter if the
install is within vmware, vmware is a seperate program all together.
