1) Have you tried booting the client in runlevel 3 and manually run
insmod serial.o? Does it insert or complain?

2) It has been a long time since I've used a serial mouse but is the
proper config option "Serial" or "serial?"  I believe in previous posts
you said you used "Serial."

3) Is the serial port enabled in the BIOS? Sorry, but I had to ask. :-)
