ok, random attempts at any permutation of a device name will result in
more frustration.

lets see if we can get to the bottom of this right away.

If you have a serial mouse, then the only 2 choices you have for
a device name are:

   X_MOUSE_DEVICE  =  /dev/ttyS0

or

   X_MOUSE_DEVICE  =  /dev/ttyS1

Forget about all the other device names.

ttyS0 is the same as COM1 in dos
ttyS1 is the same as COM2 in dos

Once you get that sorted out, then you need to figure out which
mouse protocol to use.

I'd try:

    X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL  = "Auto"

If that doesn't work, then you could try substituting the word 'Auto'
with one of the following words:

   GlidePoint
   IntelliMouse
   Logitech
   Microsoft
   MMHittab
   MMSeries
   MouseMan
   MouseSystems
   ThinkingMouse

If the protocol is wrong, you'll typically see an uncontrollable mouse.
That is, the mouse will move in all the wrong directions when you
try to move it.

If that doesn't work, then take a good serious look at your hardware.

Do you know for sure that the mouse isn't broken ?

Do you know for sure that the serial ports actually work ?

Are they maybe disabled in the bios setup screen ?

Are there cables inside the box that connect the port on the back
to a connector on the motherboard ? If so, is it connected properly ?

Is it a USB mouse with an adapter to make it fit in a serial port ?

Give all that a try, and keep in mind, that you can usually find
immediate help on the #ltsp IRC channel on irc.freenode.net.
If you need help getting online, check the IRC info in the
top right corner of the LTSP.org homepage.
