Dave, I'm assuming that you've changed your root-path entry in dhcpd.conf to point to the new location.
Also, make sure your thin client is using the new kernel. In fact, I'll bet that you are using the old kernel, and there aren't any kernel modules in the /opt/ltsp-4.1 directory for that kernel. Make sure you change your 'filename' entry in dhcpd.conf to point to the newly installed LTSP kernel.
