If you're using Ubuntu, there's an easier option than using LTSP's 
scripts. Ubuntu has scripts that do that currently for the Ubuntu live 
CDs. As far as I know, all you need is the casper package installed on 
the flash disks filesystem, and pass "casper" as a kernel parameter and 
it should do the job.

Well, for what it's worth, I spent quite a few hours looking for it 
originally too, until I asked the author of Usplash where I could get 
documentation for it :)
