Thank you for all your replies..

Yes, I have 8GB RAM and two quad-core Intel Xeon Processors so that
makes it 8cores!
After reading all your posts, installing ubuntu-desktop on top of a
server kernel sounds better.

I am going to do this today, i will write back.
