For a while,
competition was driven by price; but then came quality, at a lower price. Unless
things have changed, MTN is probably still the most expensive of the 3, but yet
again, still commands the highest number of client base.
Why?
Celtel is
cheaper than it has ever been, and probably cheaper than MTN for intra-operator
calls. Why does it sustain a low client base?
Does this
mean we have shifted our focus from price competition, and are now looking for
something extra (including brand identification)?
Have the
operators stopped price-based competition, and will now start competing on the
level of service (price not a factor, as some operators may charge lower) they
provide to their client base?
If this is
the case, would a 0/= inter-operator call charge level the playing field? Would
it allow operators to show what_they_are_really_made_of?
