In all honesty this would be a great project to put Uganda on the map as far as IT potential
How much work are we talking about?
I think the talent is in country .....

The problem is ;
1) This is a long term project (You can say 5 - 7 years commitment ... at least two kernels) 2) Its a labour of love (I cannot see where the money is ... unless its donations ... or get a core sponsor ... private or govt )
3) Is the code and documentation for reiserfs4 available?

Maybe those who teach at MUK or Other great Ugandan institutions of higher education can make it a recurring course/project so they can get free guaranteed labour year in and year out :-)

My BAD,

I would be a pity for reiser4 to just die, but anyway the other
alternative to the 32000 link per directory issue is XFS although that
is not optimized for many small file rather for very large files

On the contrary Reiserfs is not dead Reiser 3 is considered production
quality no new features are added to it just bug fixes. Reiserfs
cannot just be abandoned because of the murder conviction given the
fact that ext3 has a limit on the number of files that can be created
in a directory

Reiser3 was put in maintenance mode long before the murder saga. Chris
Mason previously at SuSE was the one who took over but apparently he
also got fed up.

According to some sources, nobody is maintaining it anymore and it may
be removed from the linux kernel.
