When I was at home the most annoying thing about the cell phones was pay
as you go. I hated having to scour the hills of munyonyo looking for
friggin airtime just so I could make a phone call. Plus all the drama in
Kenya made airtime scarce in in those little shops by speke resort. I
would pay extra to have a monthly contract coz I think its worth it

I will be upgrading to the blackberry 9000 this summer, I am up for a
new contract so i may try and get it for free seeing as i have been a
customer with AT&T for a long time, all i need to do is threaten that i
will join Verizon. So there are no monthly contracts in UG, everything
is pay as you go? There are some pluses about pay as you go, but then it
makes it harder to sell extra services that would make owning a smart
phone worth while. Are there any data pay as you go plans?
