I guess Apple is trying to say that because of their increasing popularity users should consider installing anti-virus software to stop the spread of malicious programs. Hackers may be writing more malicious programs to take advantage of bugs in Apple's OS but the main concern may be spreading malicious programs to windows. No system is totally secure, and anti virus software is always 1 step behind viruses. it is the nature of the business. maybe with Macs becoming close to %10 of the overall home PC market then this is a good enough reason for the architecture to be targeted.
