NOW SOME RANTING
Having tried out Orange recently tethered in per kilobyte mode, I
wanted to subscribe for a data plan (something around 80-90k).
All I'm being offered is a 3 month upfront plan for 250,000. When
I ask if there is a monthly charge, the front desk lady cannot
give me any further information
Also these telecoms websites offer vague information and not kept
up to date as much as I would like,
front desk guys/girls at most telecom companies' offices don't
have a clue what you are asking about when you bring any of this up.
Tech guys are way in the back (where I personally can't get to
them hassle free)
any one have any contacts of
managers who can make things happen,
or techies who can speak in soothing tones to a hot under the
collar orange client?
please forward them, websites, sales guys and front desk/toll free
ladies don't do it for me anymore
thanks,

I think the orange website quite clearly shows that there's no monthly
charge, for the SIM+data plan. Only 3 months chunklets (is that a word?)
Thanks Peter,
Atleast you've answered that clearly.
I had to work out the answer after a seven minute phone call to their
service desk.(thankfully toll free)
I simply want to pay for one month at a time for my family's "sites" 3
in total(like I've done for other telecos) what with nephews and neices
being on holiday and at home and all.
Contacts of someone in Orange will be all that I need at this point as
below I go back into rant mode
......
After testing in "per kb mode"
I asked how much it cost for one month and what I was told was
1. I had to buy a "data sim card" as my existing one couldn't work on a
monthly data plan.
2. On calling that utter rubbish as my sim card had transfered data in
"per kb mode" just fine a few minutes earlier and that this "special"
simcard would be technically identical to the mine,
3. I inquired how much this card would cost and how much I would need
to pay for 1 months (30days)subscription
The answer I got was along the lines that I'd be allowed to use the net
for a 3 month period after which I'd be told how much I needed to pay.
I then went on to probe further and say, all I wanted to know was the
minimum it would cost me to get a 30 day GPRS unlimited subscription.
Her answer baffled me. She repeated the line I've quoted above.
On the third or forth attempt is when I got a figure, it was 250,000/=
for a data sim card, the subscription fee would be determined at the end
of a 3 month period.
I figured it was futile to push further and told her this was probably
co policy, not her fault she was probably reading from a prescribed
script, etc...
