This is becoming really complicated. All I want to do is install mysql. Life using OpenSuse is alot less stressful coz everything comes included in the distro! I switched to Ubuntu coz OpenSuse and Red Hat refused to install on my laptop :( Is there a way I can get a .deb of mysql server. I heard that its not good to install .deb packages on Ubuntu, but that might be a way out for me. (or maybe a tarball ?) What could be the problem??? Interestingly, I have managed to use aptitude to install apache and php. MySQL is proving to be a hard nut to crack! Any more ideas?
