Tim, i liked your thread, personally, i prefer Drupal to any other CMS, but richness is in diversity, by declaring Drupal as the best platform. I found that statement to be very suspicious. some people who want to venture into web application development, might get blinded, and yet the market is very diverse with Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Asp.net (Share point), Cold fusion, plus custom coding, sharing the pie (Prof. Victor - no website builders please).
If a student asked me (and several have done so), what is the best platform, i would ask, what is the best sport (Golf or Rugby). to respond to your thread, some of my responses, might not be the best, but they are reasons for that, i will not divulge (some people have beef (pun intended). for example Chris was trying to be mischievous. And in conclusion, my writing style, is personal, and i ll leave you with an example, that might not be the best, but its all i can come up with right now. My favorite politician is Kizza Besigye. Many people, like him, and many dont like him. They are people, who agree with his points, but assert that he is too aggressive. Now, many people have asked him the same question, and he retorted "This is my style, some people are attracted to it, some are not - its called democracy (free will)". Should Besigye be banned from TVs, Radios, because of his style? i will not change my style, anyone who tries to nit pick, will be paid in the same currency. Also my threads, are my personal opinion, not the Gospel, am not Jesus (my hero). Jesus told us "Mathew: 7:5 First *remove* the log from your own eye, and then *you* will see clearly enough to *remove the speck from* your brother's eye " all my threads are civil, but someone living in a glass house, should not throw stones. someone contacted me off list in relation to this thread (Drupalcon), and asked why all the fighting, and i didnt see any fighting taking place, simple intellectual discourse. (symptoms associated with watching Big Brother, he even added "you will not get banned from the list, but ...." ). I would like him to advise me, what i stand to lose or gain, by leaving or remaining on LUG. I left I - Network, and i subscribe to several lists. Ok, lets assume, i get banned, i can still join with another email address. LUG is a list for everyone, its not a mafia club (at least to the best of my knowledge). sorry guyz for such a long thread, (1,000 apologies - dont print this email, keep the earth green) i rest my case,
