Marion, In your opinion what is your take on governments resistance the use of FOSS and does the current Eco system of the IT sector encourage the use and uptake of FOSS?
>> I suspect the Governments resistance is one of ignorance rather than a >> deliberate choice to do otherwise. The IT sector again it is more of the >> same, for those that use FOSS and believe in the same do push for more >> adoption. Does this Eco system have any bearing to governments decision on FOSS? >> Totally, if Government does not hear about FOSS in a concerted way it won't >> care. Governments stick with what they think they know (IMHO). I would like to know your thoughts on this and I will also be very grateful if you can point me to any documentation in regards to the same. >> I think a lot more needs to be done by the FOSS Community to make Government >> aware of the benefits of using FOSS. We are trying slowly at the Uganda >> Linux User Group. Last year we held an event to showcase the benefits of >> FOSS to the Journalist community. We think a similar event for Education and >> Government sector would also be of massive benefit, so watch this space.
