Most of us use certain applications purely because of legacy. I know someone who uses elm and emacs not because they can't use anything else but they have become to familiar and comfortable and fast with a particular application that they have no desire to go through the learning curve with another app. Like Mark, I tried evolution, it lasted 1 week before I switched back. Funny enough, you can often still find me using pine for e-mail especially when traveling and logging in remotely via ssh.
