Chris,

In some cases I suspect it is about money. They are hoping you will split the
difference. Half of nothing is still nothing hence they fudge the code.

In the same way I was on Kampala Road on Saturday and chatting to a local
computer vendor. Lo and behold he is now importing second hand computers
despite the ban with a little sleight of hand but URA does see some of the tax.
So why did they not just tax second hand PC's? Crazy.

Hi Simon,

Just tell me if you succeed so I can go and worship too. I recently
imported thin client computers in the same category but because no one
at URA has ever heard of something which is not a laptop or desktop
being called a computer, I had to pay taxes on them. Apparently the HS
code means nothing to these folks or they do it deliberately to cheat
some of us.

Cheers

Chris
