Don't quote me wrong, I used the Keyword "Luxury" and NOT "Use-Less"

That's a natural process, I guess we call it natural selection. Yes, it's good to applaud efforts but it's very important to question the viability of any work. What I see here is a waste of time based on pride. It's ironic to use a browser in Acholi to access English content. Let's not look East and
say, look the Chinese are doing it so we got to do this. We are a small
community and we have only one identity, English. My grandfather somewhere in Nebbi who never went to school started using his phone the first day it was given to him. Does he really need it localized to Luo? No! My cousins in the village can read and write English better than any language. Who then
are we really targeting with all this localization stuff? Isn't it just
another joke?

Dave,

"does language localization of software and gadgets have any significant
impact on the usage of Technology by users?"

The answer is "NO". And that is because "Literacy in Uganda" is defined by "English". For as long as English is our primary and national language such
translations are a Luxury!

Interesting discussion!

I work as the Mozilla Uganda community reporter and so far the feedback
with all it's controversy is very invaluable to the community. So thanks and
please continue with the conversation.

They're so other localization projects going on the latest being a
Luganda phone by Orange uganda, a Linux OS in Luganda, Firefox Luganda and even Google Uganda homepage in three local languages!! However, the question still lingers, "does language localization of software and gadgets have any
significant impact on the usage of Technology by users?". Keep the
conversation going.
