Same here cannot see the benefit for us, with a 10,000,000 price just cannot justify it..

It's early days but I believe it has potential so long as everyone's voices (i.e. industry, community, etc) are fairly represented when lobbying and other ICTAU related activites occur. Simon Kaheru acts as the frontman along with Boaz Shani and Albert Muc. The idea of the ICTAU is to form a associate membership body for IT professionals across the breadth of the IT Sector in Uganda. Your exactly the type of person we would like to have in the organisation. Someone who has good practical experience of working in IT and has an interest in improving and expanding the IT Sector in Uganda. It is early days so I can not say we have achieved vast amount, how ever we do already have good and close ties within the IT Industry and Government. One key role is to be able to actually lobby government effectively about issues facing our industry. As someone who has been outspoken about various issues on this forum, your voice would be an invaluable one to add. Especially in adding a practical knowledge of Open Source Solutions and how they can best suit Uganda. One role we have yet to fill is the representative from the LUG to the ICTAU. I have rec used myself, a) As I was on the forming committee b) Currently not living in Uganda. c) Too busy by far. This role is to me similar to the idea we came up with some months ago for OPTA, and the goals of that organisation I think could be filled by the LUG Committee/Chair. When are you next in town? Would be happy to setup a meeting with some of the board members if that would help? Simon On 10 October 2013 15:54, sanga collins <[email protected]> wrote: Just got an invite to join ICTAU.
