Probably the usual continuo Gallichon ie the large (usually single strung)
instrument in A (tuned C D G c e a) with a string length c.95cm (the Edlinger
in Prague is a good example).

Rather OT on the Karamazov list, but I'll give it a try anyway:

Does anybody havemore info on the Concerto in G-major for two Houtbois de
Silve, two Violas, two Chalcedons and b.c. by Johann Friedrich Fasch? I'm to
play it (with Alfonso, hi Alfonso, fun!) next month and received the score
yesterday. The Chalcedons are mostly unisono and a lot of the time unsinono
with the bc. There are some 'solo' passages, nothing spectacular. Anybody
has any idea what tuning, what instrument, what's most likely for Fasch,
anything? Range is D below bass cleff to e' above middle c'.
