As logarithms are all Greek to most musicians (give or take that they are of little or no benefit in terms of music), it suits my judgement, and is more easily understandable, to put things in plain language. Equal temperament must simply and entirely be rejected, and is only to be considered necessary in the case of correctly setting frets on the theorbo, lute and similar instruments like psaltery, cittern, because temperament cannot do justice in any respect except this one. The author generally rejects ET except for correctly setting frets of fretted instruments.
