For minor repairs I use 'white' glue. It's perfectly reversable in the sense that the glued on bits tend to fall off again after some years. For more serious things or larger bits that came off, I use hide/bone glue (I have a few pearls I can dissolve in warm water, very convenient). For serious damage I go to a luthier, obviously.
