Dear Ed
I should have remembered that Venice is very flexible and needs tuning up over a few days, so that the ammount of string on the peg continues to build up. I put the strings on two days ago, and it only occurred this morning.
I hate cutting the strings, but this time, I clearly made a mistake.

How long does hide glue take to dry, do you happen to know? I will need to take it to a lute maker. I would prefer it to be Stephen, but as it is a decoration, I don't suppose it is so important.
Regards
Anthony

Dear Anthopny,

I think hide glue would be the safest bet. I have never seen this happen before; it is good to use a little extra of the string, but next time, do not include too much length of the string, to the point of where it creates
problems. Good luck with it, Anthony.

Dear Lutenists
While carrying out my latest octave tweak, replacing the
octaves with Venice Meanes, I left the string a little too long: once
the strings were up to tension, the thickness at the peg, pushed out
the pegbox decoration.
Here is a picture of how it was before this occurred:

My question, what glue, apart from hide glue (without heating) can I
use to glue it back? I suppose it must be reversible.

I imagine it only needs a small drop, as it has only moved in the
last upper 3rd.

I would be grateful for suggestions.

Anthony
