Are you talking about squeaking, or an unwanted sounding of the open
string pitch, or something else?

I've never had the latter problem, but I live in a relatively dry
climate.  Squeaking varies with the style of string, I've found.

Is it possible your hands perspire a lot?

Are you using polished gut?
