I suppose that PHP can determine which browser people are using (I know
Microsoft ASP can, and PHP is supposed to be comparable to ASP). Then,
it's technically possible to create web-pages according to which browser
people are using.
And with the aid of cookies, we can keep a boolean on people's browser
such that they can chose a prefered layout of the web-site.
In other words: Given enough time and energy, it is technically
possible to solve all these problems: Use CSS for modern browsers,
and Lynx. Use tables for the rest. Also, provide a top-nav-bar
for those inclined to like that, and a side-nav-bar for the rest
of us.
However, the problem is that my time is limited. Therefor, I want to
aim for the largest market segment: Primarily users of Netscape 3 and up.
Greets,
Asger
