No you don't, but as the page layout is done using tables instead of CSS
Stylesheets, you see the side-nav-bar (which is the first cell of the
table) which is always the same. Notice that the page title changes and if
you press 'n' or '<space>' several times you get to the important part of
the document...
Lars or Asger (?): another reason in favor of top/bottom navbars and one
bad shot to the side-navbar... :)

I see. I think it *is* confusing that after going to say Mailing
Lists, my cursor jumps back to Main Page, and I see the same thing
until I page past
Mailing List Archives
Announcement list
User's list
Developer's list
The different title on the top of the page does not tell me too
much---we have all seen many bad links.
The point is, that as it is now, the navigation links are more
prominent on the page than the content (through lynx's eye).
I vote for top and bottom (both) navigation bars.
Sexyness came up: I only represent a particular audience for LyX
(science faculty in academia), but for us a fast, functional web page
is more important than anything. If I want to see screenshots, I go
to the screenshot page. Else, I'd like to read about what lyx is as
fast as possible. I am going to use LyX for work. As it is now, I am
looking at first a table of contents of the webpage, then one page
down I am still on the list of developers.
I do like the GNU webpage. On the other hand, when I go to the
AfterStep page (which is not *overly* sexy), I start to think that
these guys may want to play too much. And indeed, the latest
AfterStep rpm (part of RedHat 5.2 as well) has xeyes in wharf, the top
icon is not working, the recycling symbol is now screenlock, and not
restart of the wm (as it was for 2 years).
Best,
Mate
