That was just an exmaple, the exact solution could be keyboard
dependent.
It could, but that unfortunately makes documentation and giving people
more complicated. It's better if we could suggest one key that works
well for a lot of keyboards/languages.
Perhaps the function keys, that nobody seems to use much these days?
Then there is tab & esc which are little used in LyX today. The numeric
keypad isn't necessarily "easy" to use on laptops with their squashed
keyboards.
