this is not just about the rules. being as user used to increace from x to 1.y.x+1 without any worry about _the latex output_ is very important imho. i will not study way too much release notes for such an update. but i will enquire what this 1.6 change mean, perfectly knowing i could face some problems otherwise. pavel
