I noticed this on LyX 1.5.6. If it's been fixed in 1.6.x, please disregard this email.
On 1.5.6, Alt+F,S when there are no unsaved changes leaves the menu open with nothing highlighted. This is unexpected behavior, and confused me for about a minute. I'd prefer Alt+F,S to act the same whether or not there were unsaved changes: Remove the menu and leave focus in the editing area. If you desire, put a message in the message area saying no unsaved changes instead of the "write-buffer" message. I think on most computer programs that's the way Alt+F,S acts. This isn't a huge deal -- I can function with it just the way it is, but personally I think LyX would be better if it acted like other programs act.
