Two answers:

1) Bwaaaa haaa haaa haaa ha: I didn't know you could use Ctrl+S to save in 
LyX. Silly me! Thank you.
2) Some software doesn't use Ctrl+S, so on all software I tend to use 
Ctrl+F,S. That's reasonable when you're saving all your thought process for 
pounding out content.

Yeah, if Ctrl+F,S would do the exact same thing as Ctrl+S, it would be 
perfect. For now, I'll try to remember to use Ctrl+S,
