Did you read the thread I started earlier about the Windows 2.0 installer? I explained that because of the new 2.0 features, it is possible to package LyX is a new way that requires much less complicated installer code.
My idea is to write a new script for the installer using this approach. This shoudn't be done by just one developer, everyone should be involved. So there would no longer be a need to have separate sets of installers. Also, all developers would be able to maintain it and create the official Windows releases. If you want, you could be the person who will create the official binaries.
Of course there's not really a point in doing this if there will still be separate installers. So the question is whether you are willing to join this effort.
